Sarah Kate Evans (b. 2002) is a painter from Tampa, FL. Evans graduated from Florida State University with her BFA in Studio Art in 2024. She now works out of her home studio in north Florida.
Evans’ colorful narrative paintings often feature pop culture imagery, reflecting on the role of images and shared ideals in the construction of popular mythology. Her current studio practice more broadly investigates human hubris and what remains after the contemporary narratives built around progress and permanence have faded. Foregrounding imagination and play, Evans uses speculative processes and worldbuilding to facilitate a return to earnest experimentation, eccentric visions, and uncensored ideation. Her paintings propose worlds where certainty relents to wonder, and curiosity is the highest accolade.
